Red Snapper Managed Services is excited to announce the launch of the new Youth Immediate Justice programme in Nottinghamshire. The programme launched on the 1st October and runs until the 31st March 2025.
This programme will take a child-centred approach, offering dedicated one-to-one support tailored to each young person who is referred. It is modelled on our successful Adult Immediate Justice programme, including a reparative or community-focused component, which will be complemented by targeted interventions from our experienced Youth Supervisors.
For service users aged 13 and above, there will also be a relevant online learning component. This approach aims to help young people reflect on their experiences and thought patterns, guiding them toward better decision-making and reducing behaviours that could lead to more serious paths of offending. The overall goal is to provide preventative, diversionary intervention at a community level that empowers young people to make positive choices.
With a child-centred approach at the core of our practice, we aim to use elements of relationship-based practice, ensuring that young people who come through our programme are offered further support through signposting to other local services.
Embedded into the strategy of RSMS Youth Immediate Justice, is working collaboratively with local partners and organisations to support the young people we work with once they have completed their Immediate Justice intervention with us.
Who is eligible for this programme?
We will be supporting young people, aged 12 – 17, on a one-to-one basis who live within the county of Nottinghamshire. Young people can be referred to the service via the following mechanisms:
- a Community Resolution (given by the police)
- A local authority referral
- Voluntary referral
The voluntary referral may be suitable for young people who are on the periphery of offending behaviour. Our Youth Immediate Justice programme has a targeted approach whereby problematic behaviour and attitudes are challenged. The young person is empowered to consider making the necessary changes needed to move forward and break free from offending behaviours. This is expertly delivered by our experienced Youth Supervisors who are skilled in providing tailored support that addresses the complex needs of young people.
What kind of support will the young person receive?
As we take a child-centred approach to our service, we will seek to match reparative activities with their interests. This means they could be doing placements within nature/wildlife, sport, or supporting volunteers and charities such as food banks or supporting community or youth centres. For those over 13, an additional online learning course will also be provided. In addition to our online learning courses, educational interventions will be delivered by our trained Youth Supervisors through conversation that addresses and challenges thinking, attitudes and behaviours, and encourages pro-social behaviour.
What happens after the placement?
Once the placement is completed, the young person will be referred/signposted to further support that can be found in their local community. This is to ensure the young person continues to receive positive reinforcement and support that enables long-term behaviour change.
